Medication titration

Medication treatment requires multiple brief visits to gradually adjust the appropriate medication to the proper therapeutic dosage. We will rely on trends in severity of symptoms, side effects, psychometric testing (done by the medical assistant) and laboratory tests to optimize medication doses. The best treatment results are dependent on a good doctor-patient relationship, where the patient fully discloses symptoms and side effects, takes all prescribed medications faithfully, and cooperates with all other procedures like laboratory testing. Patients need to keep track of their medications, including availability of refills, so as to not run out of medications. Patients should learn the names of their medications, the purpose of the medication, and their doses, so they can accurately report this information to their other physicians.
