Thomas L. Dillon, M.D.
The primary purpose of this website is to help assist potential new patients in assessing whether I, as a psychiatrist, would be a good match for their needs/wants as a patient with psychiatric problems. To facilitate this match, this website provides information about my background and qualifications, my office setup and staff, and the treatment I do and don’t provide.
I am a board-certified general psychiatrist who has practiced in Richland since 1981. Although I treat most psychiatric disorders, I have considerable training and experience and a special interest in the medical treatment of mood disorders (bipolar disorder and depression) and anxiety disorders (panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD). I treat patients with appropriate psychiatric medications, plus individual/couples/family psychotherapy (counseling), using psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, behavioral, and cognitive principles, as clinically indicated.
Although I am a general psychiatrist, I generally do not provide care for the following situations:
- Patients under age 18, unless I am already seeing a close family member
- ADHD patients seeking stimulants
- Chronic pain patients seeking opioids
- Anxiety patients seeking addicting tranquilizers
- Schizophrenics or psychotic patients
- Suicidal/homicidal/assaultive patients needing hospitalization
- Patients with dementia
- Medicare patients (unless they are willing to sign an opt-out agreement)
- Patients covered by Medicaid/Apple Health/Community Health Plan of Washington
